Portrait Tips
HAIR
-Avoid changing your hair style at least two weeks before
your appointment.
-Avoid changing your hair style after your photo session until you have viewed your proofs.
-Bring
hair care products with you to the session.
-Guys, shave right before your appointment to avoid any unwanted hair in
a photograph.
COMPLEXION
-If you have an oily complexion, use powder for a matte finish. Oily
complexions tend to reflect light.
-Photographs will be retouched. If there is a mark that you would like in the photograph,
let the photographer know.
GLASSES
-If possible, visit your eye doctor and ask to borrow a
pair of empty frames to have your photograph taken in. You can return them after your session.
-Glass glare can ruin
a great photograph or distort the shape of you eyes.
SUNBURN/STRAP MARKS
-A sunburn will show
in a photograph. Avoid long exposures in the sun before your appointment.
-Peeling skin is difficult to touch up unless
the skin is hidden behind clothing.
-If you have tan marks, choose your outfits carefully.
PIERCINGS/TATTOOS
-Discuss
with your parents prior to your session. The photographer will not ask you to remove them.
-Advise the photographer
your feeling on the appearance of tattoos.
JEWELRY
-Flat jewelry (i.e. herringbone necklaces)
will reflect light and ruin a great photograph.
-If your boyfriend or girlfriend has your class ring, make arrangements
to get it back prior to your appointment. You should not wear each other’s in your pictures.
